         Saluki, also known as gazelle hound or Persian grey hound, stand at a height of 23-28 inches and can weigh from 35-65lbs. There life span ranges from 12-15 yrs and their colours are; white, cream, red, fawn, golden, tri-colour, black and silver. The Saluki is a medium sized dog, known for its silky smooth coat and beautiful feathering along the legs, at the back of the thighs on the shoulders and longer coat on the ears (remarkabledog).  


Breed Standard

          According to the American Kennel Club Saluki are categorized under the hound group. Their heads are usually long and narrow, the skull is wide between the ears, not domed and their nose is usually black or liver. The ears are long and covered in silky hair, and the eyes are brown to hazel, large and oval shaped. Also the teeth are strong and level. The saluki neck is long and muscled and the chest is deep and moderately narrow. The Saluki’s legs are long and strong great for their hunting sprints. Their hips and shoulders are set back. Saluki’s backs are broad while their feet are at a moderate length and their toes are long with a slight arch. The toes of a Saluki are well feathered to help them with comfort when they run throughout the desert. The Saluki coat is smooth and silky and comes in a variety of colors which include; white, cream, fawn, red, grizzle and tan, tricolor (white, black and tan) black and tan (AKC).
