Temperment

Picture
Saluki temperament is intelligent, gentle, even tempered and devoted. Salukis tend to be sensitive and attach themselves to one person, though they do get along with the entire family. Saluki like children but don’t particularly enjoy rough housing and they dislike harsh discipline because of their sensitive nature. Saluki are hunting dogs, meaning they are easily distracted and will run off if they are of leash in an open area. They make a great watch dog and will not hesitate to warn anyone of an intruder (dogbreedinfo). Saluki are not the aggressive type, they are more submissive to people and dogs. Saluki will hunt down small animals so it would best to avoid having Saluki and small rodents or birds in the same house hold. Salukis and cats can live together so long as the cat is dominant over the dog.
